Live8 -- Pink Floyd Rocks -- MTV Blows
I watched Live8 on MTV/VH1 (same feed) -- missing parts for various reasons. However, I must say MTV which is, in theory, a music channel should be removed from the air for their atrociously horrendous and offensive coverage. Every single artist was shown disrespect by the VJs talking over one or more of the artists' songs. Further, they cut away from many mid-song -- not to show another artist -- but to listen to vapid hosts blather banalities about nothing. Or worse, to cut to a commercial. HEY! GUYS! If you wait another 90 seconds the song will be over and you can still go to a commercial. ABC's clip show was much better and I got to see a few missing items in their entirety.
The highlight for me (and I suppose many others) was Pink Floyd reuniting with Roger Waters for the first time since 1981. They sound as good as their CDs if not better. Amazing. The Who tore up the stage as did Bon Jovi, Green Day, and some other artists. Most were astoundingly average.
I'm a huge Paul McCartney fan, but the ending just blew chunks. Sorry.
More later if I'm in the mood.

I too was pissed to see MTV/VH1 cut away in the middle of one of my favorite guitar solos on Comfortably Numb. I figured they would do Run Like Hell next, their standard closing number, but I was screwed over by the non-music TV channels. Bastards.
I serendipitously flipped over to catch them in the middle of Money, and I actually felt a thrill at seeing Waters on the same stage as the others.
Feel free to describe more; I missed all but the bits I described above, so I don't even know what I missed.
on the aol live demand, you can watch EVERY act ANY time, for its ENTIRE length. Trully great!
i too loved the pink floyd... did you notice at the beginning of wish you were here, waters said "this ones for all those that aren't here with us... especially syd" (meaning syd barrett the founder of pink floyd) very amusing. i have to say i hate green day and every punk rock band that makes one single, and becomes famous milionares in a day..... damn them! and they used queens 'we are the champions' ?????????
but i must say live 8 was very good. they should have had david bowie also, that would have made it perfect. although it would also be nice to have hendrix..... :) enough said, live 8 was nice, i hated u2's vertigo, i loved the who, and seeing bonnos haircut back in the live aid concert......... GET RID OF THE MULLETT LOSER!!!! but i guess it was all the rage back then...
