The Savior?

Postby studyaid » 31 Dec 2009 07:26

I just saw the line-up for team Canada in the Olympics. I notice that J-Blow is not on the list. Hmmmmm, I thought he was the best defenseman out there and the Panthers were stupid to give him up. Oh, I guess since he's playing in a "real" hockey market now, they can see how much of a marshmallow he is.

Very nice. Of course, if someone's injured he'll likely get the call. There's a lot of former Panthers on Finland's roster: Nicky Hagman, Olli Jokinen and Ville Peltonen all made the squad. Also, Magnus "Magnum" Johansson will be playing for Team Sweden. Only two current Panthers, though: Seidenberg and Vokoun. Thought for sure Barky would have made the team, but they put some guy named Jagr on instead. :lol

It would appear so. Forsberg too. And Sergei Federov as well.

Jagr is still alive! I think he may want to make an NHL come back too. I am surprised Devo didn't make the team, but better in a way as he'll get rest and will avoid injuries.

The Swedish team is a bit questionable to me. That a-hole Mikael Samuelsson dropped the f-bomb on Sweden for not picking him. In a way, i would understand as they picked Freddy Modin who had like a zillion injuries the past decade. I just didn't get that choice at all, but for Samuelsson to drop the f-bomb on the team.........man, what a dick. I never liked this jerk ever since he was with the Rangers. The guy had some bright potential, but he was not well liked in the locker room and was an easy trade bait for the Kovalev deal back then. How did the Rangers play against him when they met up? Drilled him a few times.

Team USA looks pretty nice. It's a typical Burke style squad with speed, youth, and grit. Definitely nowhere near as fancy as Canada's, though.

Goalies: Miller, Thomas, Quick.
- Solid goaltending, no doubt. These guys can shut out any star player.

Defense: Rafalski, Suter, Martin, J. Johnson, E. Johnson, Orpik, Komisarek.
- Not too skilled offensively as Rafalski is probably the only offensive threat there, but Suter is a sound player, Martin is a smart player, Jack can make some great plays either defensively or offensively, but i don't think he should have been picked yet. Erik is a sound d-man and should do fine. Orpik is a tough guy, and Komisarek will be a mad dog. It's strong defensively, but i am not too impressed with the offensive contribution that it can have.

Forwards: Pavelski, Parise, Kessel, Langenbrunner, Stastny, Kane, Brown, Ryan, Malone, Kesler, Callahan, Drury, Backes.
- Kinda leaves my head scratching reading Malone's and Drury's names there. I mean, Malone is a big boy that can score but....ehhh..., and Drury has had an awful season, but i guess he'd be good for face offs, and PK. The skill revolves around Parise, Statsny, and Kane. The muscle is Brown and Malone. The smart ones are Stastny and Langenbrunner. The spirit are Cally, Kesler, and Backes. The all-rounders are Ruan and Pavelski.

Not bad.......but i think a lot of things have to go right for this team to win a medal. I say Russia, Canada, and Finland take them, with Slovakia being the surprise.
